The Ultimate Guide to Choosing Lingerie for Your Boudoir Shoot

Ladies, let’s talk lingerie! One of the most common questions I get from clients before their boudoir session is, "What should I wear?" And I totally get it! Picking the perfect lingerie can feel overwhelming, but I promise it doesn’t have to be. Your boudoir shoot is all about making you feel sexy, confident, and empowered, so let's dive into the best lingerie options and how to prepare for your session!

Lingerie Styles That Photograph Beautifully

Not all lingerie is created equal, especially when it comes to boudoir photography! Here are some of the best options:

- Bodysuits & Teddies: These are flattering on all body types! They cinch the waist, accentuate curves, and create a stunning silhouette.

- Bra & Panty Sets: A classic choice! Opt for lace or strappy details to add texture and intrigue to your photos.

- Corsets & Bustiers: Perfect for creating an hourglass shape and adding a touch of vintage glamour. *** Keep in mind, these are usually pretty rigid so they can limit posing, still bring one if they're your thing but make sure to pack a few other options too!

- Robes & Kimonos: These add an element of mystery and are perfect for layering over lingerie or even wearing alone.

- High-Waisted Panties & Garters: Retro, chic, and incredibly flattering, especially when paired with thigh-high stockings.

-Something Personal: Your favorite band t shirt, your partners college sweatshirt, their favorite teams jersey, a leather jacket, a blazer... we can get creative with all kinds of things!

PSA: If you're truly overwhelmed 1) reach out to me! I'm here to help 2) I have plenty of things to play with like satin sheets and pieces of tulled fabric 3) DON'T feel like you need to go out and spend hundreds on lingerie, I can take photos for hours with just you and a pain white sheet, don't stress!

Colors That Pop in Photos

Your lingerie color choice can set the entire mood of your shoot!

- Black: Timeless, classic, and always sexy.

- Red: Bold, powerful, and fiery.

- White/Ivory: Romantic and bridal-perfect for a wedding gift!

- Jewel Tones (Emerald, Sapphire, Burgundy): These rich colors look amazing on all skin tones and photograph beautifully.

Avoid busy patterns or neon colors, as they can be distracting in photos!

How to Prepare for Your Boudoir Shoot

A little prep goes a long way in making you feel your absolute best!

- Pamper Yourself: Exfoliate, moisturize, and drink lots of water the week leading up to your session for glowing skin.

- Wear Loose Clothing Before Your Session: This prevents marks from bras, socks, or tight clothing from showing up in your photos.

- Bring Options: Bring at least 3-4 outfits so we can play around with different looks!

- Get Plenty of Rest: A well-rested body and face will make all the difference in your confidence and energy.

- Trust the Process: You are in great hands! I will pose you, guide you, and make sure you look absolutely stunning.
