Turning 40 with Confidence: Why This Client Wishes She’d Booked a Boudoir Session Sooner

Some birthdays come with cake, candles, and celebration. Others come with quiet reflection, a deeper sense of self, and the bold decision to do something just for you. For one of our recent clients, turning 40 was the perfect moment to step into her power—and into the studio.

And the only thing she regrets? Not doing it sooner.

“I was nervous for years... and now I feel so silly for waiting.”

When Jenna (name shared with permission) walked into the studio for her boudoir photography session, she wasn’t doing it for anyone else. No anniversary, no fiancé, no gift. This was 100% for her—a way to honor a new chapter and celebrate the woman she’s grown into.

“I kept telling myself I needed to lose twenty pounds, or wait until I felt more confident, or until I had a ‘reason,’” Jenna told us. “But the truth is, turning 40 was the reason. I realized I didn’t want to keep waiting for the perfect moment to show up for myself.”

“It wasn’t scary at all. In fact, I had SO much fun.”

Jenna admitted she had nerves leading up to the session—common for many of our first-time clients. But from the moment she arrived at our Glens Falls studio, those fears started to melt away.

“I honestly thought I’d be shaking the whole time, but it was nothing like I expected,” she said. “The second I met Bri and Fawn, I felt like I was hanging out with girlfriends. The energy was warm, fun, and relaxed. I didn’t feel judged—I felt seen.”

Fawn, our incredible in-house hair and makeup artist, made Jenna feel pampered and radiant. And once the camera started clicking, Jenna was surprised by how natural it all felt.

“I thought posing would be awkward or stiff, but Bri guided me through everything. Nothing felt forced. I laughed more than I thought I would, and by the end of the shoot, I felt amazing.”

“I expected to hate all my photos—and I loved every single one.”

Perhaps the most powerful moment came during her image reveal. Like many women, Jenna had internal doubts about how she’d look on camera. She told us honestly, “I was fully prepared to not like a single photo of myself. I’ve been hypercritical of my body for years.”

But that’s not what happened.

“I cried. I loved them. I loved me. I had trouble narrowing them down because I genuinely wanted to buy them all. I saw myself with fresh eyes—strong, beautiful, and finally at peace with my reflection.”

“This was the ultimate act of self-love and self-care.”

Jenna’s session wasn’t just a fun day—it was a confidence boost, a celebration, and a milestone all rolled into one. She left the studio feeling empowered and proud. “This wasn’t just about sexy pictures,” she said. “This was a reminder that I am worth celebrating—right now, not someday.”

And perhaps best of all?

“I’m already planning to come back. I’m addicted. I want every woman I know to do this for herself. We wait too long to feel good in our own skin.”
